For all those who have fond memories of Kopprasch etudes, here is a continual reminder of your first notes. Although the exact vintage is unknown, a YHR-567 bell flare is the foundation of this custom bell. The bell flare was straightened, delacquered, cleaned, and fitted with an Alexander compatible ring made of bronze for its good wear and low friction properties. Two different designs have been applied to the outside of this bell flare. Approximately the first half of Kopprasch No. 1 has been engraved into four strips of nickel silver, and then soldered onto the bell rim in the style of a bell garland. Second, four natural horn silhouettes were cut from nickel silver sheet-stock and then soldered around the mid-height of the bell flare.
This particular bell has a wider inner diameter at the bell ring threads to match Conn 8D (and similar horns) sized bell throats.
The bell with its bell ring weighed 430g before the applique design was applied. It weighs 532g after the artwork was applied. This vintage bell is pretty clean and has very few small dings from its prior life. This bell produces a nice sound and is very difficult to overblow with the added mass of the garland. It creates a noticeably different horn color than the standard nickel silver bell of an 8D.
