Vintage Pan American bell -- damascus - like painted inner flare
Vintage Pan American bell -- damascus - like painted inner flare
This vintage bell is a fantastic hand hammered bell that has been painted with an orange and white damascus-like pattern on the inside of the bell flare.
A 1936 Pan American horn from Elkhart Indiana was the donor for this yellow brass bell. Original serial number was 118770. It has been delacquered, cleaned, fitted with an Alexander ring, and then painted with the damascus pattern. This is a sturdy bell with a strong resonant sound. The bell has a few minor dents and is otherwise in very good shape.
The bell with Alexander ring weighed 426g before painting. It weights 451g after the paint application.
bell height: 5-1/8 inches
bell throat inner diameter: 2-13/16 inches
bell rim diameter: 12-1/4 inches
Note: This bell is a prototype and there are numerous imperfections in the paint pattern, which can be seen in the pictures.
